About the fanlistings
Quite simply, a fanlisting is a site that gathers a list of fans of a particular subject. It is -not- a mailing list. If you're concerned about your e-mail address being listed, simply state on the join form that you'd like it to be hidden. For more, visit thefanlistings.org.About the borzoi
The borzoi, or the Russian Wolfhound, is often said to be the most beautiful dog in the world. And there certainly is something special about them.
They're tall and majestic with silky, wavy fur and dark expressive eyes.
Males should be at least 28 inches high (about 70 centimeters) , and females at least 26 inches (about 66 centimeters).
They come in every color and color combination, but most borzoi have white
as their "primary color".
Like all sighthounds they're calm and quiet indoors, but they require lots of exercise and need to run free as much as possible.
But the strong hunting instinct can be a problem when off the leash, they'll hunt just about everything.
Borzoi are very intelligent but also has a strong mind of its own, so
fantasy and patience is necessary when training them.
They're a bit cat-like and choose their friends with care. But if you manage to win the heart of a borzoi you have a friend for life, a very sweet, gentle and funny friend too :)
*Tradition says that Saluki type sighthounds were originally brought to Russia from Byzantium in the south about the 9th and 10th centuries and again later by the Mongol invaders from the East.
"Borzaya" ("quick dog") is a Russian term for various types of native sighthound.
During the era of the Tsars, the Russians performed hunting tests. As well as providing exciting sport, the tests were used for selecting borzoi breeding stock; only the quickest and most intelligent hunting dogs went on to produce progeny.
Exports of Borzoi to other countries were extremely rare during the Soviet era. However enough had been taken to England, Scandinavia, Western Europe and America in the late 19th century for the breed to establish itself outside its native country.
